ADULT: Wingspan 25-30mm. A small grey eggar with two dark wavy crosslines that surround a darker area. The flight period and size distinguish this moth from other closely related species. CHRYSALIS: Pupates in a loose cocoon amongst leaves. LARVA: Feeds on a variety of shrubs but primarily Hawthorn and Blackthorn. BEHAVIOUR: Attracted to light. HABITAT: Heaths, coasts and woodland edges. FLIGHT PERIOD: August to October. STATUS: Locally common throughout |
